Brief – Create bespoke advertising for Cypriot businesses to feature in our military, island-wide magazine. Design must incentivise the military community to spend time and money in the Republic.
During our first tour in Cyprus, I was lucky enough to secure a job in the Media and Communications department. Within weeks of my arrival, the Commander backed the idea of an island-wide, monthly magazine. The ‘Cyprus Forces Lifestyle’ magazine was born and was an immediate success. Cypriot businesses are alert to the fact that the British Military are given extra money to be away from home, and they were keen to lure them off the Bases to spend that money.
Our team consisted of two sales reps, an editor, production editor (myself), and a trainee. Each month we produced a packed publication, regularly reaching over 100 pages, consisting of features, advice, diary dates, information and advertising. I produced the magazine with the exception of some pages that I gave to my trainee.
